As bad the problems seem, all the things that attracted the gay and lesbian community to this area still exist: independence, creativity and the freedom of self expression. There are many bustling sub-precincts around Oxford Street and a vibrant and passionate community still calls the place home. The state of the main strip has not been able to dampen the locals' enthusiasm for the area and that enthusiasm has boiled over into this website, the need for which is as real as the need for action. | On too many occasions we have called it like we saw it and been dismissed or ignored only to be proven right often after considerable time and money was wasted. We can not let this happen any more. On these pages we have set forth the argument and on the following, we hope we have set out a way forward. By clearly stating the problems and offering solutions, at the very least we hope to encourage debate, if not action. |
